When should you dispose of a 2-quart sharps container?

All of our containers have a designated fill line. Once the container is full to that line, it’s time to replace it with a new one. We set the fill line about ¾ of the way to the top of the container to ensure there’s ample room for the vertical drop disposal method. If you continue dropping in new sharps once you’ve reached the fill line, you increase the risk of sticking injuries and of overfilling the container, compromising its safety.

How do I find the right container size for my facility?

There are several factors that contribute to sharps container size selection, including facility volume and sharps size. Clinical sharps disposal for small facilities, ambulance sharps containers, and personal use ranges from 1-quart to 2.5 gallon sharps containers, depending on the volume and size of waste. For medium-volume facilities, you may want to select the 2.5-gallon containers. Large-volume facilities would benefit from our gallon-sized containers ranging from 1 to 2.5 gallon options.
