The FDA classifies sharps containers as Class II medical devices, requiring a PMA (Pre-Market Approval) prior to market release. All Post Medical Containers have received PMA from the FDA (K925086, K925816, K990371).
OSHA requires “under 29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(4)(iii)(A)(1) Contaminated sharps shall be discarded immediately or as soon as feasible in containers.

FDA-cleared sharps containers should have a clearly marked full line at the ¾ mark from the top of the container. Once waste reaches this line, you must dispose of it properly and replace it with a new container.
